A Productive Weekend

This weekend I accomplished a lot of the things on my never-ending “to do” list:

~Rake the yard. On Friday a coworker off-handedly said, “you see awfully preoccupied with raking your small yard…” My “small yard” yielded 7 large lawn bags full of leaves. So unless you are willing to volunteer your time to help me rake next time, don’t be so concerned with my preoccupation with raking my small yard.

~Finish painting the half-bath. I finished the trim and the ceiling, the new ventilation fan went in on Friday and the new toilet, faucet, and mirror will be completed next weekend. Project near completion!

~Prime guest room. A note to self: in the future stop yourself from painting bright colors on the walls. It will take multiple coats of primer to cover said bright colors in the event you want to change them. Too bad this lesson is learned after the fact and I am only one coat in to what will likely require three coats of primer. Lovely.

~Have friends over for monthly Stitch & Bitch. Had a lovely evening with my girlfriends Karin and Jen on Saturday night when we drank, ate, knit, and gossiped. And because this bottle of wine was aptly named, we felt the need to drink it:

~Run. Today I ran 3 miles and felt quite good. It is my 2nd post-race run (I ran 3 miles on Friday also), so I am pleased with my recovery. I think I have definitely become a runner again. It feels good. I also walked Daisy 6 miles yesterday and another 5 so far today. Sheesh.

~Relax. This usually doesn’t make my “to do” list and so often I don’t actually relax much on weekends (or ever for that matter). But since I worked my butt off today I am going to park that butt on the couch with my favorite snack – brownies (Ghirardelli makes my favorite - just don’t tell my mom that I — the HORROR — make brownies from a box!) and a glass of wine:

And then I did all the normal stuff that goes along with being an adult. Like laundry and vacuuming and such. God I need to get a life… But it was a productive weekend. And with that, there’s a couch calling my name.
